Despite its complexity, this exceptional watch is marvellously intuitive and has been designed for everyday use. Connoisseurs of fine German watchmaking will doubtless appreciate both the aesthetic dimensions of the Senator Cosmopolite and the extraordinary mechanics within. The new automatic Calibre 89-02 was developed in-house by the Saxon manufactory to meet the needs of today’s world travellers.
The ability to track the time of day in two time zones at once is made possible by an intricate set of finely engineered, integrated complications. The time zone wheel displays a choice of 37 world time zones, each indicated by the official IATA location code designating a key international airport in the zone. The 24 time zones that are aligned at full-hour offsets with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) present a black IATA code in the DST or STD window at 8 o’clock, while 10 time zones aligned with GMT at half-hour offsets appear in blue; 3 remaining zones at quarter- or three-quarter hour offsets from GMT are represented by the relevant IATA location code in red; the color coding allows one to identify the offset from GMT at a glance.
The dial of the Senator Cosmopolite is easy to read and presents the time of day at home and away simultaneously, in any two of 37 world time zones. The primary point of reference for the traveller on the road is the local time at destination....

The Senator Chronometer is the first officially certified chronometer from Glashutte Original. The term “chronometer” denotes an especially accurate clock or watch such as those used for air and sea navigation in the past.
In Germany, wristwatch chronometer certification is administered by the State offices for weights and measurements of Thuringia (LMET) and Saxony (SLME). German chronometers must pass a series of demanding performance and accuracy tests; the exacting German norm requires, in addition, that each candidate for chronometer certification be set to the second and tested in its own case.
A novel stop-seconds/reset mechanism allows the wearer to set the precise time with ease. Pulling the crown stops the time display and causes the second hand to jump to the beginning position, where it remains; the minute hand moves simultaneously to the next full minute.
When the crown is then turned to set the time, the minute hand stops only on the indication of the full minute, thus always guaranteeing the correct relationship between the minutes and seconds displayed.
The layout of the dial recalls that of a pocket chronometer, with subsidiary seconds and power reserve displays along the central axis and the characteristic Glashutte Original panorama date positioned at 3 o’clock.
The silver dial provides a rich contrast for the polished, blued sweep minute and pear-shaped hour hands and hand polished arbor. A milled railroad chapter ring encircles the central time display, and the milled Roman numerals add to the classic appearance of this impressive timepiece....

The heart of the Senator Diary is the Glashutte Original caliber 100-13, which combines the caliber 100-03 with the extraordinary new diary appointment module for total of 631 components (the diary appointment module alone consists of 340 components), all but a handful of which are designed, manufactured, finished and painstakingly assembled in the Glashutte Original manufactory.
A superb example of the art of engineering at Glashutte Original, the ingeniously interlocking components permit the wearer to set an appointment beyond the end of the month, even when a manual correction of the date is required; any change in date at the end of the month is passed along to the alarm mechanism, obviating the need to reset the alarm. A third spring barrel built into the module ensures that even if the watch runs down, the alarm remains wound.
The Caliber 100-13 automatic movement exhibits further evidence of excellence in fine mechanical watches from Glashutte Original, including a divided three-quarter plate with Glashutte ribbing, polished steel components, beveled edges and blued screws. At introduction, the Senator Diary represented a world first: no mechanical watch has ever made it possible to set an alarm up to 30 days ahead of time.
The heart of the Senator Diary is the Glashutte Original Caliber 100-13 including 631 components (the diary appointment module alone consists of 340 components). When the set date and time arrives, the alarm rings – for up to 80 seconds.
The Senator Diary is beautifully balanced, with two crowns positioned directly opposite each other on either side of the case, each flanked by a pusher. The crown and pusher on the right operate the compelling Panorama Data display, positioned at 3 o’clock.
The eye of the connoisseur is drawn immediately to the diary alarm — a subdial at 9 o’clock and a gently curving aperture indicated by an arrow at 6 o’clock.

At BaselWorld 2014, Glashutte Original revealed the fascinating art of fine mechanical watchmaking with a new chronograph movement designed and hand-crafted entirely in its own manufactory in Glashutte.
The new Calibre 37-01 column wheel chronograph debuts at the heart of the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date in two versions, one with a platinum case and hand-finished silver dial and the other with a red gold case and lacquered silver grained dial.
The simplicity and elegance in design is clearly evident in the classic harmony of the Senator dial visuals. The new Senator Chronograph Panorama Date was available initially in two versions:
The first version in this debut edition features a lacquered silver grained dial with black railroad chapter ring and black Roman numerals set within a satin brushed and polished case in 18 carat red gold.
The second model features a silver dial with laser-engraved black tachometric scale, railroad chapter ring and Roman numerals; all engravings are filled in black before the gold dial is polished in preparation for subsequent silver plating. The process, known as "silver plating by friction", involves the application by hand of a fine silver powder, resulting in a beautiful, durable and unique dial. This lustrous silver dial edition is presented in a polished and satin brushed platinum case.

With the 2013 Senator Panorama Date Moon Phase, the Glashutte Original in-house design team has made a number of changes to the existing models to achieve a stunning new look that is both classic and contemporary at once.
The bezel has been cut back to make room for a lacquered silver-grain dial whose finely textured surface forms a sumptuous backdrop for deep black Roman numerals and a classic black railroad chapter ring.
Glashutte Original’s compelling Panorama Date display is presented in black on an ivory ground matching the colour of the dial, and new blued-steel “poire” shaped hands enhance the elegance of the new design.
Along with the superb new dial visuals, the Saxon manufactory’s in-house designers have made a number of more subtle but no less effective changes. The previous versions used a button at 8 o’clock to reset the second hand to zero; the new version replaces the button with a corrector inset in the case.
The new timepieces are presented in a 40 mm case both polished and brushed surfaces, either in red gold or stainless steel version, and the matt black Louisiana alligator strap attaches the watch perfectly to the wearer’s wrist.
Also the new interpretation of Senator Panorama Date Moon Phase attracts the observant eye to the lavishly decorated moon phase display: a polished tiny silver moon moves gently on a deep blue disk representing the sky....

In 2015 Glashutte Original took up the spirit of discovery once again with a new version of its Senator Observer, a sophisticated observation watch (also known as a ‘deck watch’) evoking the enthralling history of navigation at sea.
The Saxon manufactory’s in-house dial manufactory has made extensive use of luminous surfaces to make the new Senator Observer easy to read in the absence of light: the elegant white gold hour and minute hands, bold Arabic numerals, and chapter ring hour indexes are all highlighted with green Superluminova, a phosphorescent pigment that absorbs light by day and emits it at night.
The hand and indexes of the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock and the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock are also luminous by night. By day the matt black dial offers an elegant backdrop and contrast to the Arabic numerals, drawn in a font once widely used for precision pocket watches made in Glashutte at the beginning of the 20th century. The Senator Chronometer was introduced in 2009 and the present model, reference 1-58-01-05-34-30 , joined the line-up in 2016. Aesthetics. Elegance. Perfection. These words are brought to mind at first sight of the Senator Chronometer Regulator from Glashutte Original. The new timepiece unites the classic regulator display with an officially certified manual winding chronometer movement in a satisfying and successful way.
In the past when one spoke of a regulator one referred to a particular kind of pendulum clock. These clocks were used on the one hand by watchmakers in their workshops to set the precise time and to monitor the accuracy of smaller clocks. On the other hand they were also used in scientific research, where they served as an extraordinarily precise time measurement standard. To make it easier to read the time the hands were placed on different axes on the dial: the dominant position was taken by the minute display at the centre, while the other indicators were smaller and positioned in off-centre areas of the dial.
For the 2013 Senator Chronometer Regulator, Glashutte Original took this special arrangement of the displays and reduced it to a size appropriate for a wristwatch.
The dominant central position on the lacquered silver-grainé dial is occupied by the blued minute hand with its polished eye. On the central axis above and below the minute indicator are the smaller hour and seconds displays.
Setting the pace at the periphery is a finely drawn minute ring, engraved and galvanised in black, as are the Roman numerals that lie beneath the hour hand’s path....

In 2015 Glashutte Original took up the spirit of discovery once again with a new version of its Senator Observer, a sophisticated observation watch (also known as a ‘deck watch’) evoking the enthralling history of navigation at sea.
The Saxon manufactory’s in-house dial manufactory has made extensive use of luminous surfaces to make the new Senator Observer easy to read in the absence of light: the elegant white gold hour and minute hands, bold Arabic numerals, and chapter ring hour indexes are all highlighted with green Superluminova, a phosphorescent pigment that absorbs light by day and emits it at night.
The hand and indexes of the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock and the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock are also luminous by night. By day the matt black dial offers an elegant backdrop and contrast to the Arabic numerals, drawn in a font once widely used for precision pocket watches made in Glashutte at the beginning of the 20th century. The new Calibre 37-01 column wheel chronograph debuts at the heart of the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date in two versions, one with a platinum case and hand-finished silver dial and the other with a red gold case and lacquered silver grained dial.
The simplicity and elegance in design is clearly evident in the classic harmony of the Senator dial visuals. The new Senator Chronograph Panorama Date was available initially in two versions:
The first version in this debut edition features a lacquered silver grained dial with black railroad chapter ring and black Roman numerals set within a satin brushed and polished case in 18 carat red gold.
The second model features a silver dial with laser-engraved black tachometric scale, railroad chapter ring and Roman numerals; all engravings are filled in black before the gold dial is polished in preparation for subsequent silver plating. The process, known as "silver plating by friction", involves the application by hand of a fine silver powder, resulting in a beautiful, durable and unique dial. This lustrous silver dial edition is presented in a polished and satin brushed platinum case.

Taking great pride in this tradition, Glashutte Original has developed a series of high-end mechanical observation watches. The first, a limited edition in white gold honouring the memory of Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen, the Senator Observer 1911, was presented in advance of Baselworld in 2012. At the fair itself later that year came a stainless steel version featuring elegant silver-grained dial.
One of the finest makers of observation watches was Julius Assmann, whose Glashutte firm specialised in the manufacture of these handmade wonders. The precision and reliability of its observation watches - in particular under extreme weather conditions - made them indispensable instruments for navigation officers, pilots, and pioneering explorers such as Roald Amundsen, who took a number of observation watches with him on his legendary expedition to the South Pole.
A highly precise and reliable pocket watch produced by the Glashutte watch company Julius Assmann caught Amundsen’s attention in 1910, and he purchased it at the German Naval Institute in Hamburg. One year later, Amundsen and his team were the first human beings to reach the geographic South Pole....

The time zone wheel displays a choice of 37 world time zones, each indicated by the official IATA location code designating a key international airport in the zone. The 24 time zones that are aligned at full-hour offsets with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) present a black IATA code in the DST or STD window at 8 o’clock, while 10 time zones aligned with GMT at half-hour offsets appear in blue; 3 remaining zones at quarter- or three-quarter hour offsets from GMT are represented by the relevant IATA location code in red; the color coding allows one to identify the offset from GMT at a glance.
The dial of the Senator Cosmopolite is easy to read and presents the time of day at home and away simultaneously, in any two of 37 world time zones. The primary point of reference for the traveller on the road is the local time at destination....

The Senator Diary is beautifully balanced, with two crowns positioned directly opposite each other on either side of the case, each flanked by a pusher. The crown and pusher on the right operate the compelling Panorama Data display, positioned at 3 o’clock.

With the 2013 Senator Panorama Date Moon Phase, the Glashutte Original in-house design team has made a number of changes to the existing models to achieve a stunning new look that is both classic and contemporary at once.
The bezel has been cut back to make room for a lacquered silver-grain dial whose finely textured surface forms a sumptuous backdrop for deep black Roman numerals and a classic black railroad chapter ring.
Glashutte Original’s compelling Panorama Date display is presented in black on an ivory ground matching the colour of the dial, and new blued-steel “poire” shaped hands enhance the elegance of the new design.
Along with the superb new dial visuals, the Saxon manufactory’s in-house designers have made a number of more subtle but no less effective changes. The previous versions used a button at 8 o’clock to reset the second hand to zero; the new version replaces the button with a corrector inset in the case.
The new timepieces are presented in a 40 mm case both polished and brushed surfaces, either in red gold or stainless steel version, and the matt black Louisiana alligator strap attaches the watch perfectly to the wearer’s wrist.
Also the new interpretation of Senator Panorama Date Moon Phase attracts the observant eye to the lavishly decorated moon phase display: a polished tiny silver moon moves gently on a deep blue disk representing the sky....

Aesthetics. Elegance. Perfection. These words are brought to mind at first sight of the Senator Chronometer Regulator from Glashutte Original. The new timepiece unites the classic regulator display with an officially certified manual winding chronometer movement in a satisfying and successful way.
In the past when one spoke of a regulator one referred to a particular kind of pendulum clock. These clocks were used on the one hand by watchmakers in their workshops to set the precise time and to monitor the accuracy of smaller clocks. On the other hand they were also used in scientific research, where they served as an extraordinarily precise time measurement standard. To make it easier to read the time the hands were placed on different axes on the dial: the dominant position was taken by the minute display at the centre, while the other indicators were smaller and positioned in off-centre areas of the dial.
For the 2013 Senator Chronometer Regulator, Glashutte Original took this special arrangement of the displays and reduced it to a size appropriate for a wristwatch.
The dominant central position on the lacquered silver-grainé dial is occupied by the blued minute hand with its polished eye. On the central axis above and below the minute indicator are the smaller hour and seconds displays.
Setting the pace at the periphery is a finely drawn minute ring, engraved and galvanised in black, as are the Roman numerals that lie beneath the hour hand’s path....

The model places the Flying Tourbillon, developed by Glashutte watchmaker Alfred Helwig in 1920, within the elegant frame of a contemporary redesign of the Saxon manufactory’s classic Senator series.
The 42 mm case of this timepiece features a somewhat slimmer bezel than previous Senator models, allowing the bezel to serve as an elegant frame for the fine lacquered grey grained dial.

The Senator Chronometer is the first officially certified chronometer from Glashutte Original. The term “chronometer” denotes an especially accurate clock or watch such as those used for air and sea navigation in the past.
In Germany, wristwatch chronometer certification is administered by the State offices for weights and measurements of Thuringia (LMET) and Saxony (SLME). German chronometers must pass a series of demanding performance and accuracy tests; the exacting German norm requires, in addition, that each candidate for chronometer certification be set to the second and tested in its own case.
A novel stop-seconds/reset mechanism allows the wearer to set the precise time with ease. Pulling the crown stops the time display and causes the second hand to jump to the beginning position, where it remains; the minute hand moves simultaneously to the next full minute.
When the crown is then turned to set the time, the minute hand stops only on the indication of the full minute, thus always guaranteeing the correct relationship between the minutes and seconds displayed.
The layout of the dial recalls that of a pocket chronometer, with subsidiary seconds and power reserve displays along the central axis and the characteristic Glashutte Original panorama date positioned at 3 o’clock.
The silver dial provides a rich contrast for the polished, blued sweep minute and pear-shaped hour hands and hand polished arbor. A milled railroad chapter ring encircles the central time display, and the milled Roman numerals add to the classic appearance of this impressive timepiece....

The heart of the Senator Diary is the Glashutte Original caliber 100-13, which combines the caliber 100-03 with the extraordinary new diary appointment module for total of 631 components (the diary appointment module alone consists of 340 components), all but a handful of which are designed, manufactured, finished and painstakingly assembled in the Glashutte Original manufactory.
A superb example of the art of engineering at Glashutte Original, the ingeniously interlocking components permit the wearer to set an appointment beyond the end of the month, even when a manual correction of the date is required; any change in date at the end of the month is passed along to the alarm mechanism, obviating the need to reset the alarm. A third spring barrel built into the module ensures that even if the watch runs down, the alarm remains wound.
The Caliber 100-13 automatic movement exhibits further evidence of excellence in fine mechanical watches from Glashutte Original, including a divided three-quarter plate with Glashutte ribbing, polished steel components, beveled edges and blued screws. These exquisite finishings are easily visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

At introduction, the Senator Diary represented a world first: no mechanical watch has ever made it possible to set an alarm up to 30 days ahead of time.
The heart of the Senator Diary is the Glashutte Original Caliber 100-13 including 631 components (the diary appointment module alone consists of 340 components). When the set date and time arrives, the alarm rings – for up to 80 seconds.
The Senator Diary is beautifully balanced, with two crowns positioned directly opposite each other on either side of the case, each flanked by a pusher. The crown and pusher on the right operate the compelling Panorama Data display, positioned at 3 o’clock.
The eye of the connoisseur is drawn immediately to the diary alarm — a subdial at 9 o’clock and a gently curving aperture indicated by an arrow at 6 o’clock.

Taking great pride in this tradition, Glashutte Original has developed a series of high-end mechanical observation watches. The first, a limited edition in white gold honouring the memory of Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen, the Senator Observer 1911, was presented in advance of Baselworld in 2012. At the fair itself later that year came a stainless steel version featuring elegant silver-grained dial.
One of the finest makers of observation watches was Julius Assmann, whose Glashutte firm specialised in the manufacture of these handmade wonders. The precision and reliability of its observation watches - in particular under extreme weather conditions - made them indispensable instruments for navigation officers, pilots, and pioneering explorers such as Roald Amundsen, who took a number of observation watches with him on his legendary expedition to the South Pole.
A highly precise and reliable pocket watch produced by the Glashutte watch company Julius Assmann caught Amundsen’s attention in 1910, and he purchased it at the German Naval Institute in Hamburg. One year later, Amundsen and his team were the first human beings to reach the geographic South Pole....
