Only 3.65 mm thick, the Altiplano 38 mm 900P watch is conceived so that its movement and case merge into a single whole, thus enabling it to attain a world record for thinness. Its secret lies in the design of its pink gold case set with 78 diamonds, the back of which also serves as a bottom plate carrying the watch's mechanical parts. This complex structure depends on an inverted construction of the movement, with its bridges mounted on the dial side, giving a result that is both technically and aesthetically effective. To gain vital millimetres, the whole mechanism and hand system is contained within the thickness of the balance, with an off-centre hours and minutes display. Within this extremely limited space, Piaget has designed a suspended barrel, held in place solely by a single bridge on the dial side. This exceptional mechanism offers a generous power reserve of approx. 48 hours.
